Senior Scientist-Bioinformatics Post
ICRISAT is seeking a bright, innovative and dynamic Specialist in Bioinformatics Systems to lead its efforts to use bioinformatics tools and resources in its global research and crop improvement programs.
The Person: A PhD or MSc or equivalent degree in computational chemical/physical/biological science or computer science with at least 7-10 years of experience in the development and use of bioinformatics tools and resources in genomic research. Strong background in biology (especially plants), genetics and/or genomics is desirable.
Experience with Linux, and programming experience in Java/Perl desirable. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills required. Demonstrated capacity to effectively supervise students, programmers and support staff and ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multi-cultural environment are essential.
The Compensation: This position is in the Scientific and Managerial cadre, and a competitive pay package (payable in Indian rupees), with medical insurance, annual leave travel assistance, and attractive perquisites. Applications from professionals interested in secondment are welcome.
The Duration: The appointment is initially for three years, and extendable depending on performance, and availability of funds.
