Molecular Biology methods are an integral part of modem day medicine and research, extensively used in diagnostics, management and prevention. A workshop on Molecular Biology techniques for M.Sc. / MBBS students is being organized at the Institute of Pathology (ICMR) New Delhi from Istto 4th March, 2011. This four-day course is intended for students interested in learning both basic and advanced-level Molecular Biology techniques to become conversant within the discipline. This short term course is tailored to assist young researchers to gain and sharpen their skills in Molecular Biology. Participants will get a hands-on experience along with understanding the principles underlying the Basic Molecular Biology techniques including DNA and RNA isolation and characterization, PCR, cDNA synthesis (RTPCR), Real-Time-PCR, Microarray and Sequencing. The course will also provide the theoretical concepts through lectures and discussions to facilitate the learning process. The main objective of this course is to equip the candidates with an understanding of concepts pertaining to basic molecular biology principles and hands on experience in molecular techniques for application to various contemporary areas of research.
