Medical Hospital Vellore/Paris University PhD Vacancy in Leukemia @ Paris

PhD Grant in Cancer Biotherapy at the Paris University Paris-Diderot Institute of Hematology

A CEFIPRA joint project between the Institute of Hematology in Paris and the Medical Hospital of Vellore offers a Ph.D. grant of 3 years in the field of acute leukemia in Paris, France. 

The research project will be performed in the Hematology Department (Head of Department, Prof. C. Chomienne) in the Inserm-University Paris Diderot Research Unit 940 (Director, Pr D. Charron) at the  Institute of Hematology in Paris, France (Director, Pr. F. Sigaux), www.univ-paris-diderot.fr/IUH/.

The laboratory’s main objective is to identify signalling pathways and genetic events arising in leukemic and cancer stem cells and to obtain integrated pictures of the changes occurring during cancer progression. Humanized animal models and monitoring tools are developed and will be instrumental in establishing novel eradication strategies and protocols that will be implemented and validated in clinical trials.

He or she will study leukemogenesis and drug effects in animal models and define biomarkers of targeted and immune-based therapies. The project is linked to clinical trials performed in Vellore in leukemia.

The position is available for 36 months starting 1 September 2011.
