NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute plans to promote bio entrepreneurship by providing supportive and stimulating academic and creative environment for commercial tenants involved in the development of farm animal based products and services.
NIAB is looking for Senior, Mid-career & Young Scientists with a strong record of research accomplishments, as documented by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. NIAB is looking for dedicated and committed Scientists who believe in institution building and have a passion for academic excellence and quality research. NIAB invites applications for Scientific Positions in the following priority areas:

1. Animal Genetics & Genomics
2. Bioinformatics
3. Reproductive Biology and Biotechnology

Outstanding scientists in other related areas are also encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

1. Scientist - F (2 Posts) – UNRESERVED

A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 + 8,900 G.P

B) Essential Qualifications:

M.Sc. / B.V.Sc / M.B.B.S / B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 12 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas

OR

Ph.D. / M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. Or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 7 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.

C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area, establish centres of excellence and develop a strong, independent and innovative research programmes.

D) Age: 50 Years

2. Scientist - E (2 Posts) – UNRESERVED

A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 + 8,700 G.P

B) Essential Qualifications:

M.Sc. / B.V.Sc / M.B.B.S / B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 10 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas

OR

Ph.D. / M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. Or its equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 5 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.

C) Responsibilities: Lead a group of scientists in the identified area, establish centres of excellence and develop a strong, independent and innovative research programmes.

D) Age: 45 Years

3. Scientist – D (1 Post) – UNRESERVED

A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 + 7,600 G.P

B) Essential Qualifications:

M.Sc. / B.V.Sc / M.B.B.S / B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 7 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas

OR

Ph.D. / M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. Or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 2 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas.

C) Responsibilities: To work as a part of an integrative team to create knowledge and develop technologies for improving animal health and productivity.

D) Age: 40 Years

4. Scientist C/B (1 Post) – UNRESERVED

Scientist – C

A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 15,600- 39,100 + 6,600 G.P

B) Essential Qualifications:

M.Sc. / B.V.Sc / M.B.B.S / B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications and 5 years of R&D experience in any of the above areas

OR

Ph.D. / M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. Or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognised University with original work as evidenced by patents or publications.
C) Responsibilities: To work as a part of an integrative team to conduct experiments in the specified area.

D) Age: 35 Years

Scientist – B

A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs. 15,600- 39,100 + 5,400 G.P

B) Essential Qualifications:

M.Sc. / B. Tech. / M.B.B.S / B.V.Sc / B. Pharm or equivalent degree in the relevant area from a recognized University with outstanding academic record.

C) Responsibilities: To work as a part of an integrative team to conduct experiments in the specified area.

D) Age: 30 Years

5. Technical Officers (2 Posts) - 1 UNRESERVED; 1 OBC

A) Pay Band + Grade Pay: Rs.9300 – 34800 + 4200

B) Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. / B.Tech. with 3 years’ experience in relevant areas like System Administration, Information and Communication Technology, Electronics and/or Instrumentation.

C) Responsibilities: Operation and maintenance of computer systems and other IT related activities/ Operation and maintenance of laboratory analytical instruments/equipments.

D) Age: 28 years

General Information and Conditions:

1. All the positions carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government Employees of the same pay and status posted at Hyderabad. Higher initial start may be considered in deserving cases.
2. The number of vacancies advertised against each category is provisional and may vary at the time of selection.
3. It may be possible to consider appointments with one grade lower than the grade advertised (in the same group) depending upon the recommendations of the Selection Committee.
4. Designations of various posts may change.
5. Mere fulfilling minimum qualification will not entitle a candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a Committee and shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. The decision of the Controlling Authority will be final in this respect.

6. Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of the receipt of appointment order.
7. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise will automatically disqualify the candidate for the post.
8. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date for receipt of application.
9. Reservations as per the Government of India norms in respect of SC / ST / OBC / PWD / Ex-servicemen etc. will apply.
10. The upper age limit is however, relaxable up to 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC as per the Government orders in force only in those cases where the posts are reserved for respective categories, on production of relevant certificates in the prescribed format signed by the specified authority at the time of interview. The OBC candidates should produce the prescribed certificate valid for employment under Central Government.
11. Reservation for persons with disability (PWD) will be in accordance with section 33 of Disabilities Act, 1995 will apply.
12. Experience for the positions mentioned in the advertisement will be reckoned from the date of acquiring the qualification prescribed for the position.
13. The specifications in respect of experience, educational qualifications and age may be relaxed by the Controlling Authority at its discretion, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
14. Candidates called for test / interview will be paid single second class rail fare from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the normal place of residence whichever is nearer to Secunderabad Railway Station on production of relevant document of travel. However, reservation and sleeper charges and surcharge on superfast trains will be admitted if requisite ticket / receipt etc., is submitted as proof of having actually incurred the expenses. In the absence of valid details in the TA claim, the surcharges, etc., will not be allowed.
15. Incomplete applications and/or the applications received after the last date are not likely to be considered and no interim enquiries will be attended to.
16. No fee for SC / ST / PWD / Women / Abroad candidates. Remaining candidates are required to pay the application fee.

b. The candidate needs to register on the website with username and password along with valid email. Already registered candidates, may login with the existing username and password.
c. Online Application will be available on our website http://www.niab.org.in from March 16, 2013.
d. An application fee of Rs.500/- (for Scientists) and Rs.300/- (for Technical Officers) through a crossed Demand Draft drawn on any nationalised bank and valid for at least 3 months in favour of “National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad” payable at Hyderabad, preferably Punjab National Bank, Gachibowli (Code No.PUNB0498700), Hyderabad. The following details must be filled on back side of Demand Draft:

e. After online submission, candidates should take a print out of the computer generated application form, paste a recent passport sized photograph and sign on each page of the form & on the photograph.

f. This computer generated application form (print-out) duly accompanied by self-attested copies of the certificates, mark sheets, testimonials in support of age, educational qualifications, experience, reprints of publications and caste certificate (if applicable) along with Demand Draft for Rs.500/-(for Scientists) and Rs.300/- (for Technical Officers), if applicable, should be sent in an envelope super-scribing “APPLICATON FOR THE POST OF________________” by post to the Address: Senior Manager, National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad University Campus, Central University Post Office, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India – 500 046 on or before the prescribed date.
g. Mere submission of online application without hard copy (vice versa) will not be considered.
