Deakin University’s Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (ITRI) is seeking qualified candidates for PhD Program. 

Thank you for your interest in the Deakin Higher Degree by Research. Before I give further details, I would like to remind you that Deakin University is offering 100% scholarships on its PhD Program and Living Stipend Support to the tune of A$ 22,500 per anum. The total worth of this scholarship is over A$ 150,000.

Scholarship: Tuition fee 100% Waiver = A$ 84,000/- | Living Support for 3 years = A$  67 500/- (approx.)| Total Scholarship amount =       approx. A$ 1,51,500/- = Rs. 62 00 000/- approx.

We seek the most deserving and meritorious candidates in the fields of Advanced Materials, Steel and Light Metals, Metallurgy, Textile Technology, Biotechnology, Biomaterials, Biosciences, Nanotechnology, Intelligent systems

Eligibility:

1. The Candidate must be BTech. / MSc / MTech / MPhil
2. The candidate must have secured at least 80% or more marks in his / her last educational qualification (post graduation / engineering as applicable) AND
3. The Candidate must have secured at least 65% or more marks in all education  from class 10th onwards
4. The candidate must have some research experience in the past (as part of academic program or otherwise) and should be able to produce referee reports from the supervisors
5. The candidate must be from a Recognised Indian University or an Institute 
6. In case the candidate does not meet ANY of the above marks criterion, we would recommend the Masters by Research Pathway to PhD Program. We can provide these details on request.

a. Class 10th Pass Certificate
b. Class 12th Mark Sheet & Pass Certificate
c. Bachelors’ Degree and Comprehensive Mark sheet
d. Masters’ Degree and Comprehensive Mark Sheet – For calculation of percentage and check on eligibility criterion (as applicable)
e. Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) – should mention your marks, project details and research experience
f. Scanned Passport size photograph
g. Research Proposal (Topic) and Research Abstract (minimum 300 words) – Most Important:

3. Important - Please find attached the format for Confidential Referee Report. You need to send 2 filled up referee reports – filled by your professors / employers – in a sealed envelope (sealed by the signature of the professors / employers) to Deakin International Office in New Delhi
4. Make sure all this reaches pawan.solanki@deakin.edu.au latest by 15th August 2010
5. There is no Application fee for Indian students
6. The results would be declared in  December 2010 and your Session would start in Australia in Feb / March 2011 

7. You would be required to give an IELTS exam before the commencement of the course. You need to have an overall score of 6.5 with no individual band being below 6
