ANNOUNCES ADMISSION TO MSc-PhD Combined and MSc Degree in Biomedical Sciences Beginning July, 2010

The University of Delhi wishes to admit students on an All India basis, to pursue Post Graduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR).

The focus of the teaching and research is on Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Medical Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics, Human Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Molecular Oncology, Tumour Virology, Natural Product Chemistry, Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology and Toxicology and Instrumentation. The detailed syllabus is available on the website of ACBR.

The Center possesses excellent research facilities and collaborates with neighbouring research institutions like Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR), Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (DRDO) and the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DRDO).

Catch Them Young-CSIR fellowships (20 for M.Sc.) subject to release of funds by CSIR, Jean Ashit Ganguly Educational Scholarship, Jawahar Bhawan Trust merit cum Means Scholarship (2 for M.Sc.) and Major S.P. Datta award for toppers of M.Sc. are also available for deserving students.

Applications are invited on the prescribed form for the following Courses:

1. MSc-PhD Combined Degree in Biomedical Sciences (Full Time 4 Years Course):

2. MSc Degree in Biomedical Sciences (Full Time 2 Years Course):
Eligibility (for 1&2): Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Zoology/ Botany/ Microbiology/ Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Environmental Biology/ Biotechnology/ Laboratory Techniques/ B.Pharm./ B.V.Sc. or M.B.B.S. with at least 55% marks from University of Delhi or any other examination recognised by the University or equivalent thereto.
3. PhD Degree in Biomedical Sciences: in the areas specified above.
Eligibility (for 3): Master’s Degree in the appropriate field of Science, M.Tech., M.V.Sc., M. Pharm. or M.D. with a minimum of 55% marks or B.Tech., MBBS with 70% and 60% marks or equivalent grades respectively. CSIR-UGC-ICMR-NET qualified candidates are preferred.

NOTE: Seats will be reserved as per Govt. of India guidelines.

How to Apply: The bulletin of Information along with Application form for all the above courses can be obtained from the office of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research, University of Delhi, North Campus, Delhi-110007 on all working days (Monday to Friday) from 09.30 am to 01.30 pm against Demand Draft of Rs. 1000/- for General and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST. If required by Post, send a Demand Draft of Rs. 1050/- for General and Rs. 450/- for SC/ST. The draft should be made in favour of the “Director, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research” and should be sent along with an application on plain paper including the name and address (with pin code) of the applicant, in block letters.

The request for application form by mail must reach the office of the Director, on or before April 30, 2010.

The last date for sale of bulletin is May 7, 2010.

The last date for receipt of completed application form at ACBR is May 14, 2010.

Admission Test: Admission Test for M.Sc.-Ph. D. and M.Sc. Degree Courses will be held on Saturday, Saturday the July 3, 2010 at 9.00 am

The interview and group discussion for candidates qualifying the entrance test will be held on July 4, 2010 at 9.00 am onward. The admission test will have multiple-choice questions, in all the areas as given above, at the Undergraduate level.
